The History of Precision Concepts
We were established in Long Island, NY in 1976, and relocated to Winston-Salem, NC in 1990. We began by producing medical devices, like consumer thermometers, but eventually moved into telecommunications, medical, and military aerospace devices.
In 1991, Precision Concepts opened a facility just outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. This facility now houses four ISO Class 8 clean rooms in its 25,000 square foot building. This facility is ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2000 certified and is FDA registered, and since it’s in a free trade zone, it allows same-day availability to shipments coming into the country.
Since its founding, Precision Concepts has focused on engineering to support our costumers’ needs and has grown to add new product development capabilities along with rapid prototyping to deliver your product to market faster and better. We have recently added many laser welding systems, a 110-ton stamping press, and micro-insert molding capabilities.
After 25 years of maintaining successful working relationships with our medical device assembly facility in Costa Rica, project transfers from the United States to Costa Rica have become commonplace. Many companies also find contract manufacturing and direct transfers from their facilities to Costa Rica to be very manageable and offer nice cost savings.
Our facilities in North Carolina and Costa Rica are registered with the FDA as Medical Device Manufacturers and are ISO 13485 certified. Additionally, we are registered with the US Department of Veteran Affairs as a Veteran Owned Small Business.
